Exchange Server Support

A rapidly growing North Carolina-based biotechnology firm needed a reliable, secure email messaging system with remote access and support for mobile devices. Flexibility and scalability were key requirements. The firm was in a heavy acquisition phase, having purchased two companies in its first year with further expansion planned. As new companies were acquired their messaging function and content needed to be integrated into the solution. This was done in part to preserve and control intellectual property, helping preserve the value of the acquisitions.

Blueline Computer designed and deployed a messaging solution featuring Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft Windows Mobile, Research in Motion (RIM) Blackberry Enterprise Server and Blackberry mobile devices. Ultimately, a few servers located in a data center in Charlotte provided secure messaging to hundreds of users across North America.

Helping this customer think through the solution led us to make some suggestions. Since the requirements were designed to ease the integration of new acquisitions, what about making them easier to sell when the time comes? Small adjustments during planning, licensing and implementation served to greatly ease that process. A modest investment in planning yielded superior dividends and helped to protect the customer's investment going forward.
